2009 Thistle AGM 3/12/09

After the Dundee Thistle AGM held at the Lochee boys clubs we now have some new officials.

Mike Bennett Gave the ~ Chairman’s report
Reviewed the year and in general as far as Sportives and the running of the stage race we had a very active year. Neil Crawford, John Kermode and Barry Wilson also had some very good results from a year of racing.

Phil Morris then covered the club finances.
Also reviewed the finances and we remain at the same fairly healthy level as last year. It was noted that the stage race did have to be supported by the club funds but this was limited as club members in particular Brian Sproul put a lot of their own money into the event.

Dave Martin also gave a short report on progress with the city centre cycling event he is organizing. With route selection and various bodies giving their backing. The next big challenge is to find sponsorship.

A fairly lengthy discussion took place on how we could get more younger cyclists involved in the club. Although the efforts of Phil Morris and Steve Kings with the Discovery kids were recognized it was felt the Thistle should do more. To help focus efforts in this area Stuart Allen, Charlie Miler and David Martin have formed a sub committee to help develop ideas.

Most improved rider.
Charlie Marr was voted as the most improved rider mainly as he took up cycling last year to support his son Fraser and at the end of the year completed the Bealach.
